Successful architects communicate well. We help stakeholders with different backgrounds understand what they need to know about complex systems. If we don’t communicate our architectures effectively, critical business and technology decisions may be swayed by misunderstanding.
Many of the notations used for documenting and communicating architectural ideas are highly specialized - very good, and describing a narrow aspect of the overall architecture. This specialization can lead to challenges in communicating and understanding. The ArchiMate notation, an Open Group standard widely used and supported by tools, provides an alternative. ArchiMate is a notation for describing architectural ideas that encompasses multiple concerns, from business to application and technology. It lets us describe architectures without getting trapped in an over-specialized notation. ArchiMate does not replace the notations we’re used to - it adds to them.
In this webinar, we’ll highlight some of the signs that you could benefit from ArchiMate. We’ll show through examples, how ArchiMate can augment the notations you’re already using. By the end of the webinar, you’ll know the basics of ArchiMate, and where it should fit in your toolbox.
